Macedonian students awarded for winning second place at the European Money Quiz; Janevska announced an improvement of the financial education model

Macedonian students awarded for winning second place at the European Money Quiz; Janevska announced an improvement of the financial education model

Second place among teams from 30 countries, among 73,000 competitors, is a great achievement and a confirmation that Macedonia has talented and educated children who have an excellent understanding of economic processes, know how to plan a budget, and manage money and financial risks, said the Minister of Education and Science, Prof. Dr. Vesna Janevska, at the award ceremony for the student team that represented Macedonia at the European Money Quiz 2025, organized by the European Banking Federation.

“The Ministry of Education and Science is committed to raising financial literacy among all young people. This is important, and that’s why we will begin more serious cooperation with financial institutions such as the National Bank, the Macedonian Banking Association, and the Securities and Exchange Commission. Together, we will shape a model through which we will more effectively provide financial education to the new generations,” said Janevska.

She informed that the state has increased funds for supporting talented students so that, without any concerns, they can participate in major international competitions and Olympiads in the future.

“Primarily for your sake—you deserve support in developing your talents. But also to show the world that this country, too, has exceptional children who are ready to manage social processes and participate in creating and guiding global trends and developments,” the Minister added.

She expressed gratitude to the Macedonian Banking Association for organizing the national Money Quiz, and encouraged the continuation of this activity in the future, as it stimulates the competitive spirit among youth and contributes to building financially literate and responsible generations.

Awards were also presented today to the students who won second and third place in the national Money Quiz.

At this year’s European Money Quiz, where students aged 12 to 15 compete, Macedonian students Marin Hristoski and Aleksej Mickoski from the primary school "Kire Gavriloski – Jane" in Prilep, under the mentorship of teacher Sonja Jordanoska, won second place. The team from Italy took first place, while third place went to Sweden.

Representatives from Macedonia also won second place in 2019 and 2020, and in 2024, they took third place.
