Based on Article 51 of the Law on Student Standard (Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia nos. 15/13, 120/13, 41/14, etc.) and related regulations, the Ministry of Education and Science announces:
Call for awarding student scholarships to foreign nationals of interest to the Republic of North Macedonia for the 2025/2026 academic year
1. Scholarships Offered

50 scholarships are awarded to foreign nationals of Macedonian descent living in Albania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia, Kosovo, Turkey, Romania, Montenegro, and Greece.

This is based on Decision No. 50-3369/7 dated 13.05.2025.
2. Scholarship Details

Scholarships cover undergraduate (first cycle) studies for the full duration as per the statutes of the Macedonian universities (Skopje, Bitola, Stip, Ohrid, Tetovo).

Full coverage of tuition, free accommodation and meals in student dorms, monthly stipend, primary health insurance, and costs related to temporary residence permits for study.

The Ministry decides on the dormitory placement.

Preparatory Macedonian language courses are not included.
-
Students who have already received this scholarship or lost it due to contract violations are not eligible to reapply.
3. Application and Documents

Applications are submitted to Macedonian diplomatic-consular missions in the countries of residence by August 31, 2025.

Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Required documents include:

CV and motivation letter explaining why the candidate wants to study in North Macedonia, the preferred faculty, and two alternative faculties.

Birth certificate proving Macedonian ethnicity or other proof if not marked.

Copy of high school diploma with transcript and explanation of grading system equivalence.

If education was completed in Macedonia, proof of passing the State Matura exam.

The Ministry reserves the right to select the faculty from the candidates’ alternatives.

Students bear the cost of diploma nostrification and must apply for it within five days after final scholarship list publication.
4. Obligations of Scholarship Holders

Scholarships are granted based on a contract with the Ministry regulating mutual rights and responsibilities.

Students must submit proof of passing at least 60% of exams each academic year (except the first) by October 30 to continue receiving the scholarship.

Failure to do so will result in termination of the scholarship.
5. Notification and Additional Info

Candidates will be informed through the Macedonian diplomatic missions.
