Recognising the benefits of the National qualifications framework and continuing the process of its improvement and promotion

People are recognizing the benefits of the NQF which is mainly used for increasing the employability and continuous personal development. However, it is necessary to continue working on increasing the public awareness in order to strengthen its use as a tool for recognition of the acquired qualifications, determining the lack of skills and staff on the labour market and creating more mobility opportunities.

These were the conclusions of today’s meeting of the Steering Committee Meeting of the Twinning Project financed by the EU for further support to the implementation of the National qualifications framework which has been implemented for a year now by Lithuania, Slovenia and France as partner countries.

Representatives of relevant institutions and bodies of the partner countries have agreed that the exchange of know-how is very important for all the stakeholders, especially for the North Macedonia as a developing country that should use the National qualifications framework not only as a tool for communication with the public and their social integration, but as a starting point for reforms in education by setting a national standard regulating the acquisition and use of the qualifications.

The Twinning Project has started a year ago and it will be implemented in a period of 27 months. Its objective is to improve the quality and better adaptability of education and training in line with the labour market needs, linking formal, informal and non-formal learning, as well as support the process of validation of the learning outcomes acquired in different settings.

Besides the representatives from the MoES, representatives of the Delegation of the European Union, Skopje, the High Council for the Evaluation of Research and Higher Education, France, the Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for vocational education and training, as well as the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Lithuania attended the meeting.
